Appeal for donations for World Bicycle Relief - 2017 Bertha and Carl Benz Award Winner

Pursuing the vision of a world in which distance does not constitute an obstacle for development and independence, World Bicycle Relief has launched programmes for education, health care and economic development. These programmes are centered around the Buffalo Bike, a sturdy delivery bicycle specifically developed for use in rural regions which is assembled locally and easily repaired with simple tools.

So far, World Bicycle Relief has provided more than 308,000 bicycles in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia and trained more than 1,000 bicycle mechanics.

In 2017, the City of Mannheim honoured the exemplary commitment shown by World Bicycle Relief by awarding its EUR 10,000 Bertha and Carl Benz Award to the organisation.
