The City of Mannheim compiles a large number of own statistics to provide numerically well-founded knowledge for municipal planning and decisions.

The range of topics of municipal statistics is broad and covers demografic, socio-economic, environmental and infrastructure data.

Primary data sources are automated administrative registers, data received from other authorities and own data surveys.

A special feature of Mannheim municipal statistics is the possibility to make statistical statements in small-scale classification for 17 urban districts, 24 urban quarters and 78 statistical districts. Hence, municipal statistics are of particularly high importance for municipal planning and the interested public.

For data protection reasons these data may only be stored, prepared, evaluated and published under particular conditions. Further details are given in the State Statistics Act and the Data Protection Act of Baden Wurttemberg.
