Charles Landry
The urban researcher Charles Landry deals with processes of urban change and is an international authority on the use of creative processes to control urban transitions. He invented the Creative City concept in the late 1980s. This became a global movement and changed the way in which cities now use their skills and resources. Charles Landry helps cities to recognise their creative potential and develops visionary, customised development models.
His Creative City Index project was developed with the Basque city Bilbao, and uses three components: an internal survey, and external survey and an online survey. Within each of the ten defined areas, there are specific key indicators of creativity, stability and the ability to make a city future-proof. Charles Landry has managed projects and workshops with different clients in over 55 countries and published several books, including his newest book “Cities of Ambition” and “The Art of City Making”.
